This is the remix to Kanye West’s “Paranoid,” from 10.Deep & DJ Benzi’s The New Deal mixtape (download @ 2DB). Shoutout to Cliff Skighwalker for the heads up and divshare.
Of course, this is dope. But, a few points I thought were worth raising after listening.
- Hearing this as a remix with a rapper makes me realize how versatile this song – and the entire 808s & Heartbreaks album – really is. I may re-listen to the album again this week.
- Sean, do me a favor and drop this UKNOWBIGSEAN mixtape before Christmas. I need something extra when I pitch you to these major publications. And it’s annoying when I see how much better you’ve gotten since Finally Famous: The Mixtape, and I either have to listen to my same trio of songs from the Burn Rubber Mixtape, or scour the Internet for a cameo or something to actually hear it in action. I need this shit, nigga.
- Also, I’m still waiting for the music video – “Getcha Some” – that the above photo still is taken from.
BTW, congrats to Consequence signing to Universal/Motown. His Don’t Quit Your Day Job album was decent, but I’d love to see him in a situation where A) He has more beats from his G.O.O.D. Music boss Kanye, and B) He has an album that doesn’t have a bunch of previously-released material. Hopefully, this will be his opportunity.
