Chris Brown Formally Charged With Felony Assault And Criminal Threats

I caught some flack for my Chris Brown/Rihanna-related post about how women should be accountable when they hit men (CLICK HERE to read), because I feel that while men are persecuted for it, women’s physical assaults are often dismissed as insignificant or justified. The post was misinterpreted by many as a defense of Chris Brown, and that wasn’t the case – it was just a general discussion on different standards between sexes. Got some great comments on it, though.

Today, the charges were put out there against C-Breezy. I’d like to hear his account (after all, there are always at least two sides of every story, even if they have the same ending); but if all these charges are true, then this dude lost in a brand new way. According to CNN’s story, Chris Brown and Rihanna (birth name Robyn Rihanna Fenty) were in the whip when the homie got a text message from a former jump-off. They argued, and it was all downhill from there.

“Robyn F. turned to face Brown and he punched her in the left eye with his right hand. He then drove away in the vehicle and continued to punch her in the face with his right hand while steering the vehicle with his left hand. The assault caused Robyn F.’s mouth to fill with blood and blood to splatter all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle.

“Brown looked at Robyn F. and stated, ‘I’m going to beat the s–t out of you when we get home! You wait and see!’ ”

The detective said she then used her cell phone to call her personal assistant … who did not answer.

“Robyn F. pretended to talk to her and stated, ‘I’m on my way home. Make sure the police are there when I get there.’

These are really heavy accusations.

“After Robyn F. faked the call, Brown looked at her and stated, ‘You just did the stupidest thing ever! Now I’m really going to kill you!’

Needless to say, these are really heavy accusations. Not just him hitting her, but yelling that he would kill her? Wow. I was thinking before that it’d be easy to bounce back from, since Kels, Lil Wayne, and others got off. But this is some career-ending, reputation-damaging, freedom-threatening stuff. Wow.

  • man, Chris Brown isn’t the Arruh, he’s gonna get crucified.

btw, i wholeheartedly agree with you about women’s abusive behavior being taken extremely lightly in comparison with men’s.

  • i say he skates on the “threats” but the assault, it depends. I have no faith in the justice system. Some of the accounts seemed exaggerated. So, I’m guessing he’ll get off much lighter than expected.

We must STOP making judgments about people and start helping!! Yes – it is very wrong for a man to hit a woman, but first off, they BOTH are still just kids!!! They both need an ‘intervention’. How many other celebrities have been actually been charged for something like this and actually served time? NO ONE!!! We ought to stop being so quick to put them ‘under the bus’ before we seek out trying to help them both!!
