Return Of The Mac

Whattup doe?

I know, I’ve been gone for a minute. My bad. Ixnay on the “Back To The Future” post, but I’ve been busy taking shit over in other areas.

  1. Most importantly, I’m the managing editor of the newly re-launched MichiganHipHop.com. In case the URL wasn’t obvious enough, the site is dedicated to documenting and supporting the state’s burgeoning Hip Hop scene. I’ve been both contributing pieces of my own and supervising the journalistic content of the site, and it’s been a blast. It’s going down this Saturday, when the likes of Elzhi, OneBeLo, Buff1 and other staples of the state’s Hip Hop community are all performing on our behalf at the MichiganHipHop.com Launch Party/Fundraiser. We plan on adding some committed writers, photographers, etc. in the next couple of weeks. If you’re interested, get at me: william(at)michiganhiphop.com. Shoutouts to MOSologist.
  2. Before that, I was holding down HipHopDX.com with a blog, Speech Is My Hammer. That’s still going strong, so check it out. Recent posts include “Lil Wayne Is Who We Thought He Was! (c) Dennis Green,” “Bow Wow: Gettin’ Grown” and “Where’s The (?uest)Love?”
  3. I was also busy making history at Michigan State University, adding onto the legacy DJ Benny Ben and DeeJay Collectives established as the co-host of Cultural Vibe, the flagship show of IMPACT 89 FM. Every Saturday night, I’d bring listeners the best in mainstream and underground Hip Hop; as my co-host JYoung The General said, “The only show where you can hear Tasherre D’Enajetic and Rick Ross on the same set.” Word…Life.
  4. I also started working as a writer with The Famous Firm, a talent agency headed by Sickamore, the former Atlantic Records Director of A&R. Aside from working with such a dope company, I’ve been able to really connect with some dope artists.
  5. Oh yeah, still freelancing for XXL and URB, too. Check the last issue of XXL (with Game & Ice Cube on the cover) for my article on Sosa, DMX’s literal heir apparent on the mic.

The thing is, reading blogs like Sickamore’s Thank God I’m Famous have made me want a space where I can spit more about my personal experiences. Here, I’ll be posting more random material – slices of my everyday life and re-links to sites/music that I find interesting, along with keeping you updated with the latest on the aforementioned MichiganHipHop.com, Speech Is My Hammer and freelancing gigs.

So add this back to your bookmarks and RSS feeds, Untitleds. I’m back.
